Here is a collection of tips that I have written to promote speech and language skills at home and in the community.

(please read "Terms of Use" before continuing!)

Parents: If you are in the Amarillo, TX area and are looking or a speech language pathologist, currently I do not have any opening for private patients. I can not offer any recommendations or advice through this website. Please reach out to your pediatrician for a referral or talk to your child's school if you have concerns with speech and language skills.

A child's home is one of their most meaningful environments and I believe that if we work together (professionals and parents) we can promote maximum progress in speech and language skills. I encourage all parents to participate fully in their child's therapy program. When possible,  observe the therapists and ask for home activities. Always read to your child and talk about the story and pictures. Get down on the floor and play with your child (don't be afraid to act silly and make animal noises). Make screen time meaningful and interactive for your child. Play games together while talking about the activity on the screen (try to avoid giving a small child a screen {tablet/smartphone} and leaving them alone with it).
