Thank you for purchasing The Missing Fire Truck by Panda Speech Publishing. I created this book to help my speech therapy students but is perfect to use with any young child. The target age range is 3-6 years old depending on skill and interest level.

Little readers will love lifting the flaps to help Boston look for his fire truck while discovering other toys along the way. This story is perfect for vehicle fans and a fun way to explore positional words, backyard vocabulary, yes/no questions, and more! Get ready to search (lift the flaps) and build sentence strips in this interactive story

Read the book with your child or student. At the top of each page, it asks the child to look under/in/behind the flaps to see if is the missing fire truck toy. Prompt the child to lift the flap to look and see. They will then answer yes/no (verbally or by pointing to the symbols on the page). The child will match the picture velcro symbol (move-able square images) to the box in the phrase and to answer the question “What toy did they find”  (“They found a  _____”). Tapping the boxes as they say it (model when appropriate) encourages verbalization!

Supplemental materials (free downloads). All available in one downloadable PDF below

  • Picture supported comprehension page: Use a bingo dotter, marker, or crayon to color the answers to the questions. This is a great follow up activity.

Read & Color: I use this page as a reinforcer for the vocabulary. After each page in the book, the student will color the vehicle they found in the book under the flap.

Cut & Paste Vehicle Sort Craft: Cut out the vehicles and glue them on the land, water, or sky.

Cut & Paste Craft: Cut out the vehicles and put them on the porch (like the story)

Character Coloring Pages: Bonus coloring sheets (3) featuring characters from the book.

  • Full color manipulatives: Cut out the porch scene and vehicles and laminate. Put velcro on the porch and on the back of the vehicles. Put the vehicles on the porch as you find them in the story.
