Free Home Learning Schedule for Families

I created some resources to share with some of my students' families and I wanted to pass it along to other therapists and parents!

Home Learning Plan Schedule Templates

If your school is closed, it is important that students maintain a schedule and some structure at home. Establishing a daily schedule during school closures will help families find a new routine that encourages continued educational progress. Schedules also are helpful in setting up expectations for the day and creating boundaries for children.

These schedules can also help caregivers follow the desired schedule if parents have to work or be away during this time. It will also help ease children back into the regular schedule when school resumes.

Tips: Use timers if needed to help children transition between activities.

Visual picture schedules are great for young students, students with disabilities, or students who struggle with reading.

I made several templates that can be easily adapted by families. There are picture symbol schedules and written schedules. The written schedules are fillable (you can type in them).

Picture schedule: I included a few templates and picture symbols to cut and paste on it for families. If one of the templates doesn't work for families' routines, they can make their own on paper (they can tape two pieces together if needed) and glue the pictures in the order that works best for their family.

Written schedules: If they have older students or students who are strong readers, they can easily make a written schedule with checkboxes (templates for this included too).

Home laminating tip: Many familes doen't have access to laminators so I always share this tip! After they set the schedule, line up clear packing tape on both sides of the schedule for durability and continued use.

I use a visual schedule in speech therapy sessions and have a FREE printable schedule that may be helpful too. Click here to get that FREE schedule.

Core and Fringe Vocabulary Communication Boards for Home Use

I created these easy to use basic communication boards to share with my students' families. They may be useful in the event of extended school closures. Click here to download the FREE boards.
